"I am often amazed at how some people react to my paintings. Some tell me how emotionally touched they feel by them and others tell me stories about their interpretation of the paintings. I believe that their interpretation is an extension of the creative process and just as valid as my experience in painting them."

When asked about what he likes best about painting, Ernie says, "The whole process of painting, beginning with deciding what I am trying to express, the problem solving, the balance of feeling and technique and the surprise at the end. Each small choice creates this magical thing I love, called art."
